Now a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, “Your servant my husband is dead. You know that your servant feared YHWH. Now the creditor has come to take for himself my two children to be slaves.”


Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but YHWH delivers him out of them all.


For the Lord [YHWH] disciplines the one ʜᴇ loves, and scourges every son whom ʜᴇ receives.”


The man’s name was Elimelech, his wife’s name was Naomi, and his two sons’ names were Mahlon and Chilion. They were Ephrathites from Bethlehem in Judah. And they entered the land of Moab and lived there.


They took for themselves wives from the women of Moab, one named Orpah, and the other named Ruth. After they lived there about ten years,
