12 The fourth angel trumpeted, and one third of the sun was struck, and one third of the moon, and one third of the stars, so that one third of them were darkened. The day wouldn’t shine for one third of it, and the night was the same.

For the stars of the sky and its constellations will not give their light. The sun will be darkened in its going out, and the moon will not cause its light to shine.


Then the moon will be confounded, and the sun ashamed; for YHWH Almighty will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem; and glory will be before his elders.


I looked at the earth, and it was formless and void, and at the heavens, which had no light.


The earth quakes before them. The heavens tremble. The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining.


The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of YHWH comes.

The four angels who had been prepared for that hour and day and month and year were freed so that they could kill one third of the humans.


By these three plagues, one third of the humans were killed: by the fire, the smoke, and the sulfur, which proceeded out of their mouths.
