He said to them, “Y’all will indeed drink my cup, but to sit on my right or left is not mine to give. Rather, it is for those whom it has been prepared by my Father.”


They said to him, “We are able.” Jesus said to them, “Y’all will drink the cup that I drink, and y’all will be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with;


I have told y’all these things so that in me y’all may have peace. In the world y’all have oppression, but cheer up! I have conquered the world.”


In those days, Peter stood up among the siblings (a gathering of about one hundred twenty people), and said,


strengthening the souls of the disciples and encouraging them to continue in the faith, saying, “We must go through many persecutions to enter the Empire of God.”


And if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ if we suffer with him, so that we may also be glorified with him.


But if we hope for what we don’t see, we wait for it patiently.


Our hope for y’all is firm, because we know that just as y’all are partners in our sufferings, y’all will also be partners in our comfort.


It is right for me to think this way about all y’all, because I have you* in my heart, since both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, all y’all are partakers of grace with me.


However y’all did well to share with me in my oppression.


May the Lord direct y’all’s hearts into God’s love and into the perseverance of Christ.


So don’t be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner. Instead, join with me in suffering for the gospel by the power of God,


For y’all need endurance so that when you’ve done the will of God, y’all may receive what was promised.


Therefore, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ and as one who will share in the glory to be revealed, I exhort the elders among y’all:


The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his slaves the things which must happen soon. Hᴇ made it known by sending his angel to his slave John,


who testified to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ about everything he saw.


John, to the seven churches in the province of Asia: Grace and peace to y’all from God, who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who in the presence of his throne;


and he made us an empire, priests for his God and Father—to him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.


When they have finished their testimony, the beast that ascends from the abyss will make war with them, conquer them, and kill them.


They conquered him through the blood of the Lamb, and because of the word of their testimony. They didn’t love their life even before death.


The dragon became enraged with the woman, and went away to make war with the rest of her offspring, those who keep God’s commandments and hold to the testimony about Jesus.


If anyone is to go into captivity, they will go into captivity. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, they must be killed. Here is the perseverance and the faith of the saints.


Here is the endurance of the saints, those who keep God’s commandments and the faith of Jesus.”


I fell down before his feet to worship him. He said to me, “Look! Don’t do this! I am a fellow slave with you and with your siblings who hold the testimony of Jesus. Worship God, because the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of Prophecy.”


I saw thrones, and those sitting on them, and authority to judge was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of the testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, who didn’t worship the beast nor its image and who didn’t receive the mark on their forehead or on their hand. They lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.


Because you kept my word to endure, I will also keep you from the hour of testing which is about to come on the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.


When he opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been butchered because of the Word of God, and because of the testimony they had of the Lamb.


I told him, “My lord, you know.” He said to me, “These are the ones who came out of the great tribulation. They washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
