Then he said, “Go, borrow empty containers from all your neighbors. Don’t borrow just a few containers.


Moses and Aaron said to all the children of Israel, “This evening, y’all will know that YHWH has brought y’all out from the land of Egypt.


“I am YHWH your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.


When the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron, and said to him, “Come, you must gods for us, which will go before us. As for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we don’t know what has become of him.”


Therefore you are to tell the children of Israel, ‘I am YHWH, and I will bring y’all out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rescue y’all from their bondage. I will redeem y’all with an outstretched arm, and with great acts of judgment.


They wanted none of my counsel. They despised all my reproof.


“Therefore look, the days come,” says YHWH, “that it will no more be said, ‘As YHWH lives, who brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.’


But they refused to listen, and turned their backs, and stopped their ears, that they might not hear.


When it returns, it finds it swept and put in order.


But Jeshurun grew fat, and kicked. You have grown fat. You have grown thick. You have become sleek. Then he abandoned God who made him, and rejected the Rock of his salvation.


Of the Rock who became your father, you are unmindful, and have forgotten God who gave you birth.


“I am YHWH your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.


How much more severe a punishment do y’all think someone deserves who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, and has treated as unclean the blood of the covenant through which he was sanctified, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?
