“A human born of a woman, has few days, full of trouble.


I loathe my life. I don’t want to live forever. Leave me alone, for my days are but a breath.


Oh remember that my life is a breath. My eye will no more see good.


It is vain for y’all to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil, for ʜᴇ gives sleep to ʜɪꜱ loved ones.


Man is like a breath. Hɪꜱ days are like a shadow that passes away.


What warrior can live and not see death, who can deliver their soul from the power of Sheol? Selah.


A good person leaves an inheritance to their children’s children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored for the righteous.


Why do you set your eyes on that which is not? For it certainly sprouts wings like an eagle and flies in the sky.


for riches are not forever, nor does the crown endure to all generations.


I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and I see that all is emptiness and a chasing after wind.


Therefore remove sorrow from your heart, and put away evil from your flesh, for youth and the dawn of life are emptiness.


This is the end of the matter. All has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man.


“Emptiness! Emptiness!” says the Teacher. “All is emptiness!”


For to the person who pleases ʜɪᴍ, God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy; but to the sinner ʜᴇ gives the task of gathering and accumulating, so that ʜᴇ may give to someone who pleases God. This also is emptiness and a chasing after wind.


I also gathered silver and gold for myself, and the treasure of kings and of the provinces. I got myself male and female singers, and the delights of the sons of men: musical instruments of all sorts.


Those riches were lost misfortune, so when they have children, they are empty-handed.


Why do y’all spend money on what is not bread, and y’all’s labor for what doesn’t satisfy? Y’all must listen-listen to me, and eat what is good, and let y’all’s soul delight itself in richness.


If then y’all can’t do even this little thing, why do y’all worry about the rest?


“And don’t seek after what y’all will eat or what y’all will drink—y’all don’t worry about that.


and those who use the world, as not using it to the fullest. For the mode of this world is passing away.


Yet y’all don’t know what will happen tomorrow. For what is y’all’s life? Y’all are a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.


Y’all’s gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be for a testimony against y’all and eat y’all’s flesh like fire. Y’all have hoarded wealth in the last days.


For, “All flesh is like grass, and all of its glory like the flower in the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls;


Cast all y’all’s worries on ʜɪᴍ, because ʜᴇ cares for y’all.
