All his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted. He said, “For I will go down to Sheol to my son, mourning.” His father wept for him.


Israel said, “It is enough. Joseph my son is still alive. I will go and see him before I die.”


David danced before YHWH with all his might; and David was clothed in a linen ephod.


Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no might against this great company that comes against us. We don’t know what to do, but our eyes are on you.”


Jehoshaphat was alarmed, and set himself to seek to YHWH. He proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.


‘If evil comes on us—the sword, judgment, pestilence, or famine—we will stand before this house, and before you (for your name is in this house), and cry to you in our affliction, and you will hear and save.’


Then he said to them, “Y’all are to go and eat of the fat, drink of the sweet, and send portions to those who have nothing prepared, for today is holy to our Lord. Y’all must not grieve, for the joy of YHWH is y’all’s strength.”


as the days in which the Jews had rest from their enemies, and the month which was turned to them from sorrow to gladness, and from mourning into a holiday; that they should make them days of feasting and gladness, and of sending presents of food to one another, and gifts to the needy.
