Then YHWH God formed a human from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the human became a living being.


You will eat bread by the sweat of your nostrils until you return to the ground, for you were taken out of it. For you are dust, and you will return to dust.”


I will bring the flood of waters on this earth to destroy all flesh having the breath of life from under the sky. Everything that is in the earth will die.


But a man dies and is laid low. When a human expires, where is he?


His sons come to honor, and he doesn’t know it. They are brought low, but he doesn’t perceive it of them.


“My spirit is consumed. My days are extinct and the grave is ready for me.


My days are past. My plans are broken off, as are the thoughts of my heart.


for as long as my life is still in me, and the breath of God is in my nostrils;


You hide your face; they are troubled. You take away their breath; they die and return to the dust.


YHWH brings the counsel of the nations to nothing. Hᴇ makes the thoughts of the peoples to be of no effect.


You return humankind to the dust, saying, “Y’all return, O children of Adam.”


and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.


Also their love, their hatred, and their envy has perished long ago; neither do they any longer have a portion forever in anything that is done under the sun.


Y’all must stop trusting in humankind, whose breath is in their nostrils. Why should they be esteemed?


The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of YHWH, was taken in their pits; of whom we said, under his shadow we will live among the nations.


but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before you, and you and your lords, your wives, and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. You have praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which don’t see, or hear, or know; and you have not glorified the God in whose hand your breath is, and whose are all your ways.


We speak wisdom, however, among those who are mature, a wisdom not of this world nor of the rulers of this world who are coming to nothing.
