Psalm 120:1

Don’t hide your face from me in the day of my distress. Turn your ear to me. Answer me quickly in the day when I call.


Then they cried to YHWH in their trouble, and ʜᴇ saved them out of their distresses.


Out of my distress, I called on YHWH. YHWH answered me with a spacious place.


I lift up my eyes to the mountains. Where does my help come from?


I was glad when they said to me, “Let’s go to YHWH’s house!”


I lift up my eyes to you, you who sit in the heavens.


If it had not been YHWH who was on our side, let Israel now say,


Those who trust in YHWH are as Mount Zion, which can’t be moved, but remains forever.


When YHWH brought back those who returned to Zion, we were like those who dream.


Unless YHWH builds the house, they who build it labor in vain. Unless YHWH watches over the city, the watchman guards it in vain.


Blessed is everyone who fears YHWH, who walks in ʜɪꜱ ways.


Many times they have afflicted me from my youth up. Let Israel now say:


Out of the depths I have cried to you, YHWH.


YHWH, my heart isn’t arrogant, nor my eyes lofty; nor do I concern myself with great matters, or things too wonderful for me.


YHWH, remember David and all his affliction,


See how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to live together in unity!


Y’all praise YHWH, all servants of YHWH, who stand by night in YHWH’s house!


In my distress I called on YHWH, and to my God I cried. Hᴇ heard my voice from ʜɪꜱ temple. My cry came before ʜɪᴍ into ʜɪꜱ ears.


Call on me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”


Whoever offers the sacrifice of thanksgiving glorifies me, and prepares ʜɪꜱ way so that I will show God’s salvation to ʜɪᴍ.”


He said, “I called to YHWH in my distress And ʜᴇ answered me. From the depths of Sheol I cried for help. You heard my voice.


For you threw me into the depths, into the heart of the seas. The currents were all around me. All your waves and your billows passed over me.


Being in agony, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat became like drops of blood falling down on the ground.


In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and petitions with strong cries and tears to the one who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence.


When the time had come, Hannah conceived, and bore a son; and she named him Samuel, saying, “Because I have asked him of YHWH.”


I prayed for this child, and YHWH has given me my petition which I asked of him.
