Proverbs 26:4

and spoke to them according to the counsel of the young men, saying, “My father made y’all’s yoke heavy, but I will increase y’all’s yoke. My father disciplined y’all with whips, but I will discipline y’all with scorpions.”


When all Israel saw that the king didn’t listen to them, the people answered the king, saying, “What portion have we in David? We don’t have an inheritance in the son of Jesse. To your tents, Israel! Now see to your own house, David.” So Israel departed to their tents.


The beginning of strife is like breaching a dam, therefore stop contention before quarreling breaks out.


Don’t speak in the ears of a fool, for he will despise the wisdom of your words.


Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes.


If a wise person goes to court with a foolish one, the fool rages or scoffs, and there is no peace.


But they remained silent and said nothing in reply, because the king’s commandment was, “Y’all must not answer him.”


“Y’all shouldn’t give what is holy to the dogs or throw your* pearls before the pigs, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear y’all to pieces.


Y’all are not to return evil for evil or insult for insult, but instead give a blessing, because y’all were called so that y’all would inherit a blessing.


But even when the archangel Michael was disputing with the devil and arguing about the body of Moses, he did not dare to bring abusive condemnation against him, but said, “May the Lord rebuke you!”
