Saul and Jonathan were lovely and pleasant in their lives. In their death, they were not divided. They were swifter than eagles. They were stronger than lions.


The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spoke to me, ‘One who rules over men righteously, who rules in the fear of God,


“How long will y’all judge unjustly, and show partiality to the wicked?” Selah.


A false balance is an abomination to YHWH, but accurate weights are his delight.


A strong woman is the crown of her husband, but a disgraceful wife is like rot in his bones.

Therefore, siblings, select seven men from among y’all who have a reputation of being full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, and whom we may appoint to this duty.


Let us walk properly as in the day, not in hard partying and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and promiscuity, and not in quarreling and jealousy.


For rulers cause no fear for good conduct, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of one in authority? Do that which is good, and you will have praise from the authority,


for anyone who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by humans.


but a person is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, not in the letter. Their praise is not from humans, but from God.


Therefore y’all judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each person will receive praise from God.


Now I pray to God that y’all wouldn’t do anything worthless—not so that we will appear to have passed the test, but that y’all may do what is excellent, even if we appear to fail the test.


through glory and dishonor, through defamation and good report, regarded as deceivers and yet true,

Finally, my siblings, y’all rejoice in the Lord! It is not tiresome for me to write the same things to y’all again—it is a safeguard for y’all.


Y’all must walk in wisdom toward outsiders, redeeming every opportunity.


so that y’all may behave properly around outsiders, and not be dependent on anyone.


for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence.


Likewise, the women must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, and faithful in all things.


They must manage their own household well, having children in subjection with all reverence


Don’t let anyone despise your youth, but be an example to those who believe, in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.


being approved by excellent works, such as if she has brought up children, if she has been hospitable to strangers, if she has washed the feet of saints, if she has relieved the afflicted, and if she has diligently followed every good work.


the elder women as mothers, the younger women as sisters, in all purity.


but hospitable, a lover of good, clear-minded, just, devout, self-disciplined,


who gave himself for us, in order to redeem us from all lawlessness and purify for himself a people for his own possession, eager to do excellent works.


Older men are to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in perseverance.


In everything show yourself to be an example of excellent works. In teaching, show integrity, dignity,


Our people must learn to devote themselves to excellent works to meet urgent needs, so that they will not be unfruitful.


For by it, the people of old were commended.


Pray for us, y’all. For we trust that we have a beautiful conscience, desiring to live honorably in all things.


Pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.


But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial, and without hypocrisy.


Since y’all have purified your* souls in obedience to the truth in sincere mutual affection, y’all should love one another fervently, from the heart,


maintaining such an excellent way of life among the ethnic groups that, though they accuse y’all of being evildoers, they may see y’all’s excellent deeds and glorify God in the day of visitation.


Above all, hold onto a deep love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins.


Beloved, this is now the second letter that I have written to y’all. In both, I am stimulating y’all as a reminder to sincere thinking.


My little children, let us not love in words or with the tongue, but in deed and in truth.


All who have this hope set on him purify themselves, even as he is pure.


Beloved, y’all must not believe every spirit. Instead, test the spirits to determine whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.


Now, my daughter, don’t be afraid. I will do for you all that you ask, for everyone in the city knows that you are a worthy woman.
