Joseph placed his father and his brothers, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.


Egypt was glad when they departed, for the fear of them had fallen on them.


Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with their burdens. They built storage cities for Pharaoh: Pithom and Raamses.


This month is to be the beginning of months for y’all, the first month of y’all’s year.


The children of Israel traveled from Rameses to Succoth. There were about six hundred thousand on foot who were men, besides children.


Today, in the month Abib, y’all are going out.


YHWH hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued the children of Israel; for the children of Israel went out with a high hand.


For y’all will not leave in a hurry, or go in a flight; for YHWH will go before y’all, and the God of Israel will be y’all’s rear guard.


He who breaks open the way goes up before them. They break through the gate, and go out. Their king passes on before them, with YHWH at their head.


Moses wrote the starting points of their journeys by the commandment of YHWH. These are their journeys according to their starting points.
