Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel with all the heads of the tribes, the princes of the fathers’ households of the children of Israel, to King Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of YHWH’s covenant out of David’s city, which is Zion.


Moreover you should select from all the people able men who fear God, men of truth who hate unjust gain. Appoint them as rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.


Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.


These are those who were called of the congregation, the leaders of the tribes of their fathers; they were the heads of the thousands of Israel.


These are those who were counted, whom Moses and Aaron counted, and the twelve men who were leaders of Israel, each one for his fathers’ house.


You are to write Aaron’s name on Levi’s staff. There must be one staff for each head of their fathers’ houses.


Now the name of the man of Israel that was slain, who was slain with the Midianite woman, was Zimri, the son of Salu, a leader of a fathers’ house among the Simeonites.


YHWH said to Moses, “Take all the chiefs of the people, and hang them up to YHWH before the sun, that the fierce anger of YHWH may turn away from Israel.”


Moses spoke to the heads of the tribes of the children of Israel, saying, “This is the thing which YHWH has commanded.


Moses, Aaron, and the leaders of the congregation counted the sons of the Kohathites by their families, and by their fathers’ houses,


the leaders of Israel, the heads of their fathers’ houses, gave offerings. These were the leaders of the tribes. These are they who were over those who were counted;


So I took the heads of y’all’s tribes, wise and respected men, and made them heads over y’all, leaders of thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens, and officers for y’all’s tribes.


With him were ten princes, one prince of a fathers’ house for each of the tribes of Israel; and they were each head of their fathers’ houses among the thousands of Israel.
