We see no miraculous signs. There is no longer any prophet, neither is there among us anyone who knows how long.


For YHWH has poured out on y’all a spirit of deep sleep, and has closed y’all’s eyes, the prophets; and he has covered y’all’s heads, the seers.


They tell the seers, “Y’all stop seeing visions!” and the prophets, “Y’all stop prophesying what is right to us. Tell us pleasant things. Prophesy delusions.


“Son of humanity, set your face toward the south, and preach toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the field in the south.


“Son of humanity, set your face toward Jerusalem, and preach toward the sanctuaries, and prophesy against the land of Israel.


I will make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth so that you will be mute and will not be able to correct them, for they are a rebellious house.


“But y’all gave the Nazirites wine to drink, and y’all commanded the prophets, saying, ‘Y’all must not prophesy!’


but don’t prophesy again any more at Bethel; for it is the king’s sanctuary, and it is a royal house!”


Now therefore listen to the word of YHWH: ‘You say, Don’t prophesy against Israel, and don’t preach against the house of Isaac.’


“Therefore night will come for y’all, without visions, and it will become dark for y’all, without divination, and the sun will go down on the prophets, and the day will be black over them.


For the statutes of Omri and all the works of Ahab’s house are observed. Y’all walk in their counsels, that I may bring you to ruin, and your inhabitants to derision. Y’all will bear the reproach of the nations.”


But so that this doesn’t spread any further among the people, let’s threaten them to no longer speak in this name to any humans.”


“We ordered y’all not to teach in this name. But look, y’all have filled Jerusalem with your* teaching, and y’all are determined to bring this man’s blood down on us.”


So they summoned the apostles and had them flogged. Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.


“Y’all stiff-necked people with uncircumcised hearts and ears! Y’all are always resisting the Holy Spirit, just like your* ancestors did.
