Jeremiah lamented for Josiah, and all the singing men and singing women spoke of Josiah in their lamentations to this day; and they made them an ordinance in Israel. They are written in the lamentations.


Both great and small will die in this land. They will not be buried. People will not lament for them, nor will anyone cut themselves or shave their head for them.


Sigh, but not aloud. Make no mourning for the dead. Bind your headdress on you, and put your sandals on your feet. Don’t cover your lips, and don’t eat mourner’s bread.”


and say, ‘We played the flute for y’all, and y’all didn’t dance. We sang a dirge for y’all, and y’all didn’t mourn.’


They are like children who sit in the marketplace and call to one another, saying, ‘We played the flute for y’all, and y’all didn’t dance. We sang a mourning song, and y’all didn’t weep.’


Paul went downstairs, fell upon him and embraced him, saying, “Don’t worry, y’all! His life is still in him.”

The sound of harpists, minstrels, flute players, and trumpeters will never be heard in you again. No craftsperson of any craft will ever be found in you again. The sound of a mill will never be heard in you again.
