By night on my bed, I longed for him whom my soul loves. I longed for him, but I didn’t find him.


I was asleep, but my heart was awake. It is the voice of my beloved who knocks: “Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled; for my head is drenched with dew, and my hair with the dampness of the night.”


I have taken off my robe. Indeed, must I put it on? I have washed my feet. Indeed, must I soil them?


For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and won’t prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it, because it will surely come. It won’t delay.


But if an evil slave says in their heart, ‘My master is staying away for a long time,’


“Now after a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them.


The wise ones, however, took oil in jars with their lamps.


But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Look, the bridegroom! Y’all come out to meet him!’


Then he returned to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “So y’all couldn’t keep watch with me for one hour?


He came again and found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy.


Meanwhile, the people were waiting for Zechariah and marveled that he was delayed in the temple.


But if that servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delayed in returning,’ and begins to beat the other male and female servants, and to eat and drink and to get drunk,


I tell y’all that ʜᴇ bring justice to them quickly. However, when the Son of Humanity comes, will he find faith on the earth?”


He began to tell the people this parable: “A man planted a vineyard, rented it out to some tenant farmers, and travelled abroad for a long time.


Do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for y’all to awaken from sleep, for our salvation is now nearer than when we started believing.


Therefore he says, “Awake, you sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”


Y’all be sober-minded and alert. Y’all’s adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.


except that y’all hold on to what y’all have until I come.
