“If a man sins against his neighbor, and an oath is laid on him to cause him to swear, and he comes and swears before your altar in this house,


When a man vows a vow to YHWH, or swears an oath to bind his soul with a bond of obligation, he must not break his word. He must do everything that proceeds from his mouth.


“Woe to y’all blind guides, who say, ‘Whoever swears by the temple is bound by nothing, but whoever swears by the gold of the temple is bound by the oath.’


Blind fools! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctifies the gold?


Blind again! For which is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifies the gift?


But y’all say, if a human tells their father or his mother, ‘Whatever assistance you might have received from me is Corban,’” (that is, given to God),


Yes, I testify again to every man who receives circumcision that he is a debtor to keep the whole law.
