The king of Syria’s heart was very troubled about this. He called his servants, and said to them, “Y’all tell me! Which of us is informing the king of Israel?”


“Where is the one who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw his star in its rising and have come to worship him.”


When he had gathered together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he asked them where the Christ would be born.


“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I would have gathered your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but y’all were not willing!


Y’all will hear of wars and rumors of wars. But y’all see to it that you* aren’t troubled, for all this must happen, but that is not yet the end.


And they cried out, saying, “What do we have to do with you, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?”


“When y’all hear of wars and rumors of wars, y’all don’t be troubled. For those must happen, but this is not yet the end.


They were greatly disturbed because the apostles were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
