He said, “Now also let it be according to y’all’s words. He with whom it is found will be my slave, and the rest of y’all will be blameless.”


and they gave for the service of God’s house of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand darics, of silver ten thousand talents, of bronze eighteen thousand talents, and of iron one hundred thousand talents.


and I said, “My God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to you, my God, for our iniquities have increased over our head, and our guiltiness has grown up to the heavens.


For my iniquities have gone over my head. As a heavy burden, they are too heavy for me.


For innumerable evils have surrounded me. My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up. They are more than the hairs of my head. My heart has failed me.


Therefore the Empire of Heaven is like a human king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.


But because he couldn’t pay, the master ordered that he, his wife, his children, and all that he had be sold to repay the debt.


To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to their own ability. Then he went on his journey.


The man who received the five talents immediately went and traded with others, and gained another five talents.


The one who received five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, ‘Master, you entrusted me with five talents. Look, I have gained five more.’


“The one with two talents came and said, ‘Master, you entrusted me with two talents. Look, I have gained two more.’


“The one who had received one talent came and said, ‘Master, I knew you that you are a hard man, reaping where you didn’t sow and gathering where you didn’t scatter.


Or do y’all think those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them were worse offenders than all the other humans who live in Jerusalem?


So he called each one of his master’s debtors. He said to the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’


Then he said to another, ‘How much do you owe?’ He replied, ‘A hundred measures of wheat.’ The manager said to him, ‘Take your bill, and write eighty.’
