The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, to kill those who are upright on the path.


Prompted by her mother, she said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptizer.”


In those days, John the Baptizer came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, saying,


He swore to her, “Whatever you ask of me, I will give you, up to half of my empire.”


Immediately she came in a hurry to the king and requested, “I want you to give me the head of John the Baptizer on a platter right now.”
