Others fell on rocky ground, where they didn’t have much soil. Immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of soil.


The seeds by the road are like people where the word is sown, but when they heard, immediately Satan comes and takes away the word which has been sown in them.


But they have no root in themselves, and are short-lived. When oppression or persecution arises because of the word, they immediately fall away.


because Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and kept him safe. When he heard him, he was perplexed, yet he enjoyed listening to him.


Those on the rocky soil are those who hear the word with joy when they hear it, but have no root. They believe for a while, but fall away in the time of temptation.
