“Cry aloud! Don’t spare! Lift up your voice like a trumpet! Declare to my people their disobedience, and to the house of Jacob their sins.


“Isn’t my word like fire?” says YHWH; “and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?


Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They were in the boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them,


Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came near to him, saying, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we will ask.”


He took Peter, James, and John with him, and began to be greatly troubled and distressed.


He appointed twelve: Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter),


Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James, the son of Alphaeus. Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot,


He allowed no one to follow him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James.


After six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John with him, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. He was transfigured in front of them.


When his disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do you want us to call fire to come down from heaven to destroy them?”


Simon Peter, Thomas called Didymus, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two of his other disciples were together.


Around this time, King Herod laid his hands on some in the church in order to oppress them,


For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword. It pierces to the point of dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
