They come to you as the people come, and they sit before you as my people, and they hear your words, but don’t do them; for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goes after their gain.


The seed sown among the thorns is the one who hears the word, but the cares of this age and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, making it unfruitful.


But when the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.


When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he felt remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,


Looking at him, Jesus loved him and said to him, “One thing you lack. Go, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”


Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How difficult it is for those who have riches to enter into the Empire of God!”


because Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and kept him safe. When he heard him, he was perplexed, yet he enjoyed listening to him.


The king became very sorrowful, but because of his oaths and his dinner guests, he didn’t want to refuse her.


Then he said to them, “Y’all must beware and be on guard against all kinds of greed, for a person’s life doesn’t consist of the abundance of possessions.”


But when he heard this, he became very sad, for he was extremely wealthy.


For godly sorrow produces repentance that leads to salvation, without regret. But worldly sorrow produces death.


Y’all should know this with certainty, that no sexually immoral, impure, or covetous person who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the empire of Christ and God.


because Demas deserted me, having loved this present age, and has gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia.
