I tell y’all that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.”


In the house, his disciples asked him again about the same matter.


“Anyone who divorces his wife and marries someone else commits adultery. And anyone who marries a woman divorced from her husband commits adultery.


Therefore, while the husband is alive, she would be called an adulteress if she is joined to another man. But if the husband dies, she is free from the law and is not an adulteress, even though she is joined to another man.


The woman doesn’t have authority over her own body, but the man does. Similarly, the man doesn’t have authority over his own body, but the woman does.


When she has departed out of his house, she may go and be another man’s wife.


Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.
