Then Abishai the son of Zeruiah said to the king, “Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Please let me go over and take off his head.”


The king called the Gibeonites and said to them (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites. The children of Israel had sworn to them, but Saul sought to kill them in his zeal for the children of Israel and Judah).


Then the king sent a captain of fifty with his fifty to him. He went up to Elijah, while he was sitting on the top of the hill and said to him, “Man of God, the king has said, ‘Come down!’”


He said, “Come with me, and see my zeal for YHWH.” So they made him ride in his chariot.


But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of YHWH, the God of Israel, with all his heart. He did not turn from the sins of Jeroboam, which he caused Israel to sin.

But Jesus turned and rebuked them,


It makes great signs, even making fire come down from heaven to the earth in the presence of humans.


One of its heads looked like it had been butchered to death, but its death wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled at the beast.
