It was so, when Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, “Why have you torn your clothes? Let him come now to me, and he will know that there is a prophet in Israel.”


and might not be as their fathers— a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that didn’t make their hearts loyal, whose spirit was not steadfast with God.


Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and said to him, “This is what YHWH, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, that they may serve me.


YHWH said to Moses, “How long will y’all refuse to keep my commandments and my instructions?


Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, that you may be saved. How long will your evil thoughts lodge within you?


YHWH said to Moses, “How long will this people despise me? How long will they not believe in me, for all the signs which I have worked among them?


“How long must I bear with this evil congregation that complains against me? I have heard the complaints of the children of Israel, which they complain against me.


“Y’all come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give y’all rest.


But he answered them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, but no sign will be given except the sign of Jonah the prophet.


Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they go in and dwell there. The final state of that human becomes worse than the first. This is the way it will for this evil generation.”

Jesus answered, “Faithless and perverse generation! How long will I stay with y’all? How long will I put up with y’all? Bring him here to me.”

When Jesus saw this, he was indignant and said to them, “Y’all let the little children to come to me! Don’t y’all stop them, for the Empire of God belongs to such as these.


Jesus stood still and said, “Ya’ll call him.” So they called the blind man, saying to him, “Cheer up and rise up! He is calling you!”


He answered him, “Unbelieving generation, how long must I stay with y’all? How long should I endure y’all? Y’all bring him to me.”


He said to them, “Where is y’all’s faith?” They were terrified and they marveled, saying to one another, “Who even is this? He commands the winds and the water, and they obey him?”


I begged your disciples to cast it out, and they could not do it.”


While the boy was approaching, the demon slammed him on the ground and threw him into a convulsion. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the boy, and gave him back to his father.


Jesus said to him, “Have I been with y’all such a long time, and do you not know me, Philip? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?


Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”


For a period of about forty years he endured their habits in the wilderness,


With many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Y’all must be saved from this crooked generation!”


Or do you disdain the riches of ʜɪꜱ kindness, self-restraint, and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?


They have acted corruptly toward ʜɪᴍ. They are not ʜɪꜱ children, because of their defect. They are a generation of perversion and distortion.


So we see that they were unable to enter in because of unbelief.


Therefore, let us strive to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following the same pattern of disobedience.


For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they did, but the word they heard didn’t profit them, because it wasn’t united with faith by those who heard.


Therefore he is also able to save completely those who draw near to God through him, because he lives forever to intercede for them.
