I have gone astray like a lost sheep. Seek your servant, for I don’t forget your commandments.


All we like sheep have gone astray. Everyone has turned to his own way; and YHWH has laid on him the iniquity of us all.


In the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the lowland, in the cities of the South, in the land of Benjamin, in the places around Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, the flocks will again pass under the hands of him who counts them,” says YHWH.


My people have been lost sheep. Their shepherds have caused them to go astray. They have turned them away on the mountains. They have gone from mountain to hill. They have forgotten their resting place.


“I will seek that which was lost, and will bring back that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick; but I will destroy the fat and the strong. I will feed them in justice.”’


Y’all my sheep, the human sheep of my pasture, I am y’all’s God,’ says Lord YHWH.”


Y’all haven’t strengthened the diseased or healed the sick. Y’all haven’t bound up what was broken and haven’t brought back what was driven away. Y’all haven’t sought that which was lost, but y’all have ruled over them with violence and cruelty.


“As I live,” says Lord YHWH, “surely because my sheep became a prey, and my sheep became food to all the animals of the field, because there was no shepherd, and my shepherds didn’t search for my sheep, but the shepherds fed themselves, and didn’t feed my sheep,


He said to them, “What human among y’all who has one sheep that fell into a pit on the Sabbath day, wouldn’t grab it and lift it out?


The Lord answered him, “Hypocrites! Wouldn’t each one of y’all untie your ox or donkey from the stall on the Sabbath and lead it to water?


Then Jesus told them this parable:


For the Son of Humanity has come to seek and save the lost.”


Therefore you have no excuse, you humans who judge. For in judging another, you condemn yourself because you who judge practice the same things.


For y’all were “like sheep going astray,” but now y’all have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of y’all’s souls.
