then I will uproot them from my land that I have given them; and this house, which I have made holy for my name, I will cast out of my sight, and I will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples.


His roots are wrapped around the rock pile. He sees the place of stones.


That person will be like a tree planted by streams of water, that produces its fruit in season, and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever they do prospers.


For they will soon be cut down like the grass, and wither like the green herb.


As clouds and wind without rain, so is he who boasts of gifts deceptively.


“Say, ‘Lord YHWH says: “Will it prosper? Won’t he pull up its roots and cut off its fruit, that it may wither, that all its fresh springing leaves may wither? It can’t be raised from its roots by a strong arm or many people.


This is what Lord YHWH says: “Look, I am against the shepherds. I will require my sheep at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the sheep. The shepherds won’t feed themselves any more. I will deliver my sheep from their mouth, that they may not be food for them.”


Is grazing on the good pasture too little for y’all? Do y’all also have to trample with your* feet on the rest of y’all’s pasture? And to have drunk of the clear waters, but must y’all foul the residue with your* feet?


“Son of humanity, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel. Prophesy, and tell them, even the shepherds, ‘Lord YHWH says: “Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Shouldn’t the shepherds feed the sheep?

Y’all must not be carried away by various strange teachings. It is beautiful for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by ceremonial foods, which do not benefit those who observe them.


Y’all have lived indulgently and luxuriously on the earth. Y’all have fattened y’all’s hearts as in a day of slaughter.
