17 The children of Israel traveled and came to their cities on the third day. Now their cities were Gibeon, Chephirah, Beeroth, and Kiriath Jearim.

Saul’s son had two men who were captains of raiding bands. The name of one was Baanah and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, of the children of Benjamin (for Beeroth also is considered a part of Benjamin;


Ishmaiah the Gibeonite, a mighty man among the thirty and a leader of the thirty; Jeremiah; Jahaziel; Johanan; Jozabad the Gederathite;


These were the sons of Caleb, the son of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah: Shobal the father of Kiriath Jearim,


Shobal the father of Kiriath Jearim had sons: Haroeh, half of the Menuhoth.


The families of Kiriath Jearim: the Ithrites, the Puthites, the Shumathites, and the Mishraites; from them came the Zorathites and the Eshtaolites.


For YHWH’s tabernacle, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of burnt offering, were at that time in the high place at Gibeon.


The children of Kiriath Arim, Chephirah, and Beeroth, seven hundred forty-three.


The men of Kiriath Jearim, Chephirah, and Beeroth: 743.


There was also a man who prophesied in the name of YHWH, Uriah the son of Shemaiah of Kiriath Jearim; and he prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah.


they were very afraid, because Gibeon was a great city, like one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all its men were mighty.


Kiriath Baal (also called Kiriath Jearim), and Rabbah; two cities with their villages.


The border extended from the top of the mountain to the spring of the waters of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of Mount Ephron; and the border extended to Baalah (also called Kiriath Jearim);


The border extended, and turned around on the west quarter southward, from the mountain that lies before Beth Horon southward; and ended at Kiriath Baal (also called Kiriath Jearim), a city of the children of Judah. This was the west quarter.


The south quarter was from the farthest part of Kiriath Jearim. The border went out westward, and went out to the spring of the waters of Nephtoah.


Three days after they had made a covenant with them, they heard that they were their neighbors and that they lived near them.


The children of Israel didn’t strike them, because the leaders of the congregation had sworn to them by YHWH, the God of Israel. All the congregation grumbled against the leaders.


But when the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done to Jericho and to Ai,


They said to him, “Your servants have come from a very far country because of the name of YHWH your God, for we have heard of ʜɪꜱ fame, all that ʜᴇ did in Egypt,


They went up and encamped in Kiriath Jearim in Judah. Therefore they call that place Mahaneh Dan to this day. It is behind Kiriath Jearim.


They sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kiriath Jearim, saying, “The Philistines have brought back the ark of YHWH. Y’all come down and get it.”


The men of Kiriath Jearim came and took the ark of YHWH, and brought it into Abinadab’s house on the hill, and consecrated Eleazar his son to keep the ark of YHWH.
