When they told David this, he sent to meet them, for the men were greatly ashamed. The king said, “Y’all are to stay in Jericho until your* beards have grown, and then y’all may return.”


The king of Assyria discovered a conspiracy in Hoshea, for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and offered no tribute to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year. Therefore the king of Assyria seized him, and bound him in prison.


Elijah said to him, “Elisha, please stay here, for YHWH has sent me to Jericho.” But he said, “As YHWH lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So they came to Jericho.


Unless YHWH builds the house, they who build it labor in vain. Unless YHWH watches over the city, the watchman guards it in vain.


It went down from Janoah to Ataroth, to Naarah, reached to Jericho, and went out at the Jordan.


Now the cities of the tribe of the children of Benjamin according to their families were Jericho, Beth Hoglah, Emek Keziz,


Joshua the son of Nun secretly sent two men out of Shittim as spies, saying, “Y’all go and inspect the land, including Jericho.” They went and came into the house of a prostitute whose name was Rahab, and slept there.


They said to Joshua, “Truly YHWH has delivered all the land into our hands. Moreover, all the inhabitants of the land melt away before us.”


The men pursued them along the way to the fords of the Jordan River. As soon as those who pursued them had gone out, they shut the gate.


The prince of YHWH’s army said to Joshua, “Take off your sandals, for the place on which you stand is holy.” Joshua did so.


YHWH said to Joshua, “Look, I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and the valiant warriors.
