16 The border went down to the farthest part of the mountain that lies before the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is in the valley of Rephaim northward. It went down to the valley of Hinnom, to the side of the Jebusite southward, and went down to En Rogel.

Now Jonathan and Ahimaaz were staying by En Rogel, and a female servant used to go and report to them, and they went and told King David. They couldn’t risk being seen coming into the city.


Now the Philistines had come and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.


Adonijah killed sheep, cattle, and fatlings by the stone of Zoheleth, which is beside En Rogel; and he called all his brothers, the king’s sons, and all the men of Judah, the king’s servants;


He defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.


Now the Philistines had come and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim.


Moreover he burned incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burned his children in the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom YHWH cast out before the children of Israel.


He also made his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom. He practiced sorcery, divination, and witchcraft, and dealt with those who had familiar spirits and with wizards. He did much evil in YHWH’s sight, to provoke him to anger.

Zelah, Eleph, the Jebusite (also called Jerusalem), Gibeath, and Kiriath; fourteen cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the children of Benjamin according to their families.


The children of Benjamin didn’t drive out the Jebusites who inhabited Jerusalem, but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem to this day.


The children of Judah fought against Jerusalem, took it, struck it with the edge of the sword, and set the city on fire.


But the man wouldn’t stay that night, but he rose up and went toward Jebus (also called Jerusalem). he had with him a couple of saddled donkeys and his concubine.
