Jacob sent messengers in front of him to Esau, his brother, to the land of Seir, the field of Edom.


You have created the north and the south. Tabor and Hermon rejoice in your name.


Now y’all must turn and set out on y’all’s journey, going to the hill country of the Amorites and to all the places near there: in the Arabah, in the hill country, in the lowland, in the South, by the seashore, in the land of the Canaanites, and in Lebanon as far as the great river, the river Euphrates.


Then we turned and took our journey into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea, as YHWH spoke to me, and we traveled around Mount Seir for many days.


(The Sidonians call Hermon Sirion, and the Amorites call it Senir.)


He said, “YHWH came from Sinai, and rose from Seir to them. He shone from Mount Paran. He came from the ten thousands of holy ones. At ʜɪꜱ right hand was a fiery law for them.


Hᴇ will deliver their kings into your hand, and you are to make their name vanish from under the sky. No one will be able to stand before you until you have destroyed them.


From the wilderness and this Lebanon even to the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the great sea toward the going down of the sun, will be y’all’s border.


Joshua made war a long time with all those kings.
