When Jehoshaphat and his people came to take their plunder, they found among them in abundance both riches and dead bodies with precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away. They took plunder for three days, it was so much.


The children of Israel took the women of Midian captive with their little ones; and all their livestock, all their flocks, and all their goods, they took as plunder.


but the women, the little ones, the livestock, and all that is in the city, even all its plunder, you may take for plunder for yourself. You may use the plunder of your enemies, that YHWH your God has given you.


But as for the cities of these peoples that YHWH your God is giving you for an inheritance, you must not allow anything with breath to live.


So Joshua struck all the land, the hill country, the South, the lowland, the slopes, and all their kings. He left no one remaining, but he utterly destroyed all that breathed, as YHWH, the God of Israel, commanded.


They struck all the souls who were in it with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them. There was no one left who breathed. He burned Hazor with fire.


But as for the cities that stood on their mounds, Israel burned none of them, except Hazor only. Joshua burned that.


As YHWH commanded Moses his servant, so Moses commanded Joshua. Joshua did so. He left nothing undone of all that YHWH commanded Moses.


You are to do to Ai and her king just as you did to Jericho and her king, except y’all may take its goods and its livestock for yourselves*. Set an ambush behind the city.”


Israel took for themselves only the livestock and the goods of that city, according to the word of YHWH which he commanded Joshua.
