Come now y’all. Let’s kill him and throw him into one of the pits. Then we will say, ‘An vicious animal has devoured him.’ We will see what will become of his dreams.”


For even your siblings, and the house of your father, even they have dealt treacherously with you! Even they have cried aloud after you! Don’t believe them, though they speak beautiful words to you.


While he was still speaking to the crowds, his mother and his brothers stood outside, wanting to talk to him.


When his friends heard this, they went out to restrain him, for they said, “He is insane.”


His mother and his brothers came. Standing outside, they sent for him and calling him.


Now Jesus’s mother and brothers came to him, but they could not get near him because of the crowd.


Some people told him, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.”


and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding.


When they heard this, many of his disciples said, “This is a hard saying! Who can understand it?”


At this, many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him.


But after his brothers had left for the feast, then he also went up, not openly, but in secret.


For no one does anything in secret while he seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, reveal yourself to the world.”


For not even his brothers believed in him.


Then Peter, stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and spoke out to them, “Fellow of Judea and all who live in Jerusalem, y’all should listen carefully to my words and let me explain this.


Eliab his oldest brother heard when he spoke to the men; and Eliab’s anger burned against David, and he said, “Why have you come down? With whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and the evil of your heart! You have come down that you might see the battle.”
