The servant ran to meet her, and said, “Please give me a drink, a little water from your pitcher.”


Here I am, standing by this spring of water. If a maiden who comes out to draw water, and I say to her, “Please give me a little water from your pitcher to drink,”


So he arose and went to Zarephath; and when he came to the gate of the city, there was a widow there gathering sticks. He called to her and said, “Please get me a little water in a jar, that I may drink.”


Whoever gives one of these little ones just a cup of cold water to drink in the name of a disciple, truly I tell y’all, that person will never lose their reward.”


After this, Jesus, knowing that all things had now been finished in fulfillment of Scripture, said, “I am thirsty!”


Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”


Jacob’s well was there. Jesus was tired from his journey, so he sat down by the well. It was about noon.


(His disciples had gone into the city to buy food.)
