He said, “I have been zealous-zealous for YHWH, the God of Armies. The children of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword. I alone am left. They are seeking to take away my life.”


For YHWH’s eyes run back and forth throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. You have done foolishly in this; for from now on you will have wars.”


Help, YHWH! For the faithful have come to an end. For the faithful have vanished from the children of humankind.


YHWH looked down from heaven on the children of humanity, to see if there were any who understood, who seek after God.


They have all turned away. Together they have become corrupt. There is no one who does good, no, not one.


Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will stand up for me against the evildoers?


Many claim to be people of unfailing love, but who can find a faithful person?


Buy the truth, and don’t sell it. Get wisdom, discipline, and understanding.


Beside the gates, at the entry of the city, at the entry doors, she cries aloud:


I will get up now, and go about the city; in the streets and in the squares I will seek him whom my soul loves. I sought him, but I didn’t find him.


No one sues in righteousness, and no one pleads in truth. They trust in vanity and speak lies. They conceive mischief and give birth to iniquity.


“Why do y’all bring a case against me? Every one of y’all have transgressed against me,” says YHWH.


Then all the men who knew that their wives burned incense to other gods, and all the women who stood by, a large assembly, and all the people who lived in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,


I listened and heard, but they didn’t say what is right. None of them repents of their wickedness, saying, “What have I done?” Everyone turns to their course, as a horse that rushes headlong in the battle.


Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men, that I might leave my people and go from them! For they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.


Therefore YHWH Almighty says, “See, I will refine them with fire and test them, for how should I deal with the daughter of my people?


“I sought for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I would not destroy it; but I found no one.


Then he said to me, “The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perversion; for they say, ‘YHWH has forsaken the land, and YHWH doesn’t see.’


But you, Daniel, shut up the words and seal the book, even to the time of the end. Many will run back and forth, and knowledge will be increased.”


They rush on the city. They run on the wall. They climb up into the houses. They enter in at the windows like thieves.


They will wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east; they will run back and forth to seek the word of YHWH, and will not find it.


and said to him, “Run, speak to this young man, saying, ‘Jerusalem will be inhabited as villages without walls, because of the multitude of humans and livestock in it.


“The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house was enraged and said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in the poor, crippled, blind, and lame.’


and with every kind of wicked deception among those who are perishing because they didn’t accept the love of the truth, and so be saved.
