Look, God is with us at our head. Hɪꜱ priests are ready to sound the trumpets of alarm against y’all. Children of Israel, y’all must not fight against YHWH, the God of your* ancestors; for y’all will not succeed.”


The Spirit of God came on Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest. He stood above the people, and said to them, “God says, ‘Why do y’all disobey YHWH’s commands, so that y’all do not prosper? Because y’all have forsaken YHWH, ʜᴇ has also forsaken y’all.’”


There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against YHWH.


You will also leave that place with your hands on your head; for YHWH has rejected those in whom you trust, and you won’t prosper with them.


‘They will be carried to Babylon, and there they will be, until the day that I visit them,’ says YHWH; ‘then I will bring them up, and restore them to this place.’”


“See how siege ramps have been built against the city to take it. The city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans who fight against it, because of the sword, of the famine, and of the pestilence. What you have spoken has happened. Look, you see it!


Jeremiah said, “The word of YHWH came to me, saying,


‘While men come to fight with the Chaldeans, and to fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have killed in my anger and in my wrath, and for all whose wickedness I have hidden my face from this city,


For even if y’all strike down the entire army of the Chaldeans who fight against y’all, and only wounded men were left among them, they would get up from their tent and burn this city with fire.’”


When Zedekiah the king of Judah and all the men of war saw them, then they fled and went out of the city by night, by the way of the king’s garden, through the gate between the two walls; and he went out toward the Arabah.


But the army of the Chaldeans pursued them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho. When they had taken him, they brought him before Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath, and he pronounced judgment on him.


Then he put out Zedekiah’s eyes and bound him in copper shackles to take him to Babylon.


“The yoke of my transgressions is bound by his hand. They are knit together. They have come up on my neck. He made my strength fail. The Lord has delivered me into their hands, against whom I am not able to stand.


“‘The prince who is among them will bear his baggage on his shoulder in the dark, and will go out. They will dig through the wall to carry things out that way. He will cover his face, because he will not see the land with his eyes.


I will also spread my net on him, and he will be taken in my snare. I will bring him to Babylon to the land of the Chaldeans; yet he will not see it, though he will die there.


But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and many people. Will he prosper? Will he who does such things escape? Will he break the covenant, and still escape?


Moses said, “Why are y’all disobeying the commandment of YHWH? This will not succeed.
