and said, “‘I have sworn by myself,’ says YHWH, ‘because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son,


But if y’all turn away and forsake my statutes and my commandments that I have set before y’all, and y’all go and serve other gods and worship them,


This house, which is so high, everyone who passes by it will be astonished and say, ‘Why has YHWH done this to this land and to this house?’


They will answer, ‘Because they abandoned YHWH, the God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and took other gods, worshiped them, and served them. Therefore he has brought all this evil on them.’”


Therefore I swore in my wrath, “They will not enter into my rest.”


But if y’all refuse and rebel, y’all will be devoured with the sword. For the mouth of YHWH has spoken.”


“I have forsaken my house. I have cast off my heritage. I have given the dearly beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies.


But if y’all don’t listen to me and make the Sabbath day holy, by not carrying a load and entering in at the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will kindle a fire in its gates, and it will devour the palaces of Jerusalem. It will not be quenched.”’”


You are to tell them, “YHWH says: ‘If y’all will not listen to me and walk in my law which I have set before y’all,


The Chaldeans burned the king’s house and the people’s houses with fire and broke down the walls of Jerusalem.


“But y’all must listen to the word of YHWH, all Judah who dwell in the land of Egypt: ‘Look! I have sworn by my great name,’ says YHWH, ‘that my name will no more be invoked in the mouth of anyone from Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, “As Lord YHWH lives.”


“Lord YHWH has sworn by himself,” says YHWH, the God of Armies: “I abhor the pride of Jacob, and detest his fortresses. Therefore I will deliver up the city with all that is in it.


Therefore because of y’all, Zion will be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem will become a heap of ruins, and the mountain of the temple like the high places of a forest.


Look, your* house is left desolate to y’all.


To whom did God swear that they would never enter into his rest, except those who were disobedient?
