In his days Pharaoh Necoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates; and King Josiah went against him, but Pharaoh Necoh killed him at Megiddo when he saw him.


Pharaoh Necoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the place of Josiah his father, and changed his name to Jehoiakim; but he took Jehoahaz away, and he came to Egypt and died there.


Therefore YHWH says concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah: “They won’t mourn for him, saying, ‘Alas my brother!’ or, ‘Alas sister!’ They won’t lament for him, saying ‘Alas lord!’ or, ‘Alas his glory!’


But to the land to which their soul longs to return, there they will never return.”


For YHWH Almighty, the God of Israel, says: ‘As my anger and my wrath has been poured out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so my wrath will be poured out on y’all when y’all enter into Egypt. Y’all will become an object of horror and astonishment, a curse and a reproach. And y’all will never see this place again.’


Y’all will perish among the nations. The land of y’all’s enemies will eat y’all up.
