The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, the teeth of the young lions, are broken.


My soul is among lions. I lie among those who are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.


Y’all’s country is desolate. Y’all’s cities are burned with fire. Strangers devour y’all’s land in y’all’s presence and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.


Look, YHWH makes the earth empty, makes it waste, turns it upside down, and scatters its inhabitants.


Their roaring will be like a lioness. They will roar like young lions. Yes, they will roar, and seize their prey and carry it off, and there will be no one to deliver.


In my ears, YHWH Almighty says: “Surely many houses will be desolate, even great and impressives ones, unoccupied.


Then I said, “Lord, how long?” He answered, “Until cities are waste without inhabitant, houses without man, the land becomes utterly waste,


The voice of news, is coming, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah a desolation, a dwelling place of jackals.


“Therefore prophesy against them all these words, and tell them, “‘YHWH will roar from on high, and utter ʜɪꜱ voice from ʜɪꜱ holy habitation. Hᴇ will mightily roar-roar against ʜɪꜱ fold. Hᴇ will shout like those who tread grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.


I will send and take all the families of the north,” says YHWH, “and I will send to Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against its inhabitants, and against all these nations around. I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual desolations.


Why have you prophesied in the name of YHWH, saying, ‘This house will be like Shiloh, and this city will be desolate, without inhabitant?’” All the people were crowded around Jeremiah in the house of YHWH.


YHWH says: “Y’all say about this place, ‘It is waste, without humans or animals.' Yet in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem that are desolate, without humans, inhabitants and animals, there will be heard in once more


I will give this command,” says YHWH, “and cause them to return to this city. They will fight against it, take it, and burn it with fire. I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.”


A lion has gone up from his thicket, and a destroyer of nations. He is on his way. He has left his place to make your land desolate. Your cities be laid waste, without inhabitant.


When YHWH could no longer endure y’all’s disastrous deeds and the abominations that y’all have committed, your* land became a desolation, an astonishment, and a curse, without inhabitant, as it is today.


Therefore a lion out of the forest will kill them. A wolf of the evenings will destroy them. A leopard will watch against their cities. Everyone who goes out there will be torn in pieces, because their transgressions are many and their backsliding has increased.


“Israel is a hunted sheep. The lions have driven him away. First, the king of Assyria devoured him, and now at last Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has broken his bones.”


They will roar together like young lions. They will growl like lion cubs.


Be instructed, Jerusalem, lest my soul be alienated from you, lest I make you a desolation, an uninhabited land.”


I will weep and wail for the mountains, and lament for the pastures of the wilderness, because they are burned up, so that no one passes through; Men can’t hear the voice of the livestock. Both the birds of the sky and the animals have fled. They are gone.


“I will make Jerusalem heaps, a dwelling place of jackals. I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.”


therefore prophesy, and say, ‘Lord YHWH says: “Because they have made y’all desolate and crushed y’all on every side, so that y’all would become a possession of the rest of the nations, and y’all have been taken up in the talk and whispers of the people,”


“‘Moreover I will make you a desolation and a reproach among the nations that are around you, in the sight of all that pass by.


They will walk after YHWH, who will roar like a lion; for he will roar, and the children will come trembling from the west.


For I will be to Ephraim like a lion, and like a young lion to the house of Judah. I myself will tear in pieces and go away. I will carry off, and there will be no one to deliver.


YHWH says: “As the shepherd rescues out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear, so will the children of Israel be rescued who sit in Samaria on the corner of a couch, and on the silken cushions of a bed.”


Will a lion roar in the thicket, when he has no prey? Does a young lion cry out of his den, if he has caught nothing?


The lion has roared. Who will not fear? Lord YHWH has spoken. Who can but prophesy?


Where is the den of the lions, and the feeding place of the young lions, where the lion and the lioness walked with the lion’s cubs, and no one made them afraid?


Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them in the day of YHWH’s wrath, but the whole land will be devoured by the fire of his jealousy; for he will make an end, yes, a terrible end, of all those who dwell in the land.


Woe to the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of YHWH is against y’all, Canaan, the land of the Philistines. I will destroy everyone who lives there.


I have cut off nations. Their battlements are desolate. I have made their streets waste, so that no one passes by. Their cities are destroyed, so that there is no man, so that there is no inhabitant.


A voice of the wailing of the shepherds! For their glory is destroyed—a voice of the roaring of young lions! For the pride of the Jordan is ruined.


Then Samson went down to Timnah with his father and his mother, and came to the vineyards of Timnah. Suddenly, a young lion roared at him.
