Let darkness and the shadow of death claim it for their own. Let a cloud dwell on it. Let all that makes the day black terrify it.


Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron,


Hᴇ brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke away their chains.


Y’all ascribe to YHWH the glory due to ʜɪꜱ name. Y’all worship YHWH in holy array.


though you have crushed us in the haunt of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death.


YHWH said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.”


The way of the wicked is like darkness. They don’t know what they stumble over.


Yes, if someone lives many years, let them rejoice in them all; but let them remember the days of darkness, for they will be many. All that comes is emptiness.


They will roar against them in that day like the roaring of the sea. If one looks to the land, there is only darkness and distress. The light is darkened in its clouds.


We grope for the wall like the blind. Yes, we grope as those who have no eyes. We stumble at noon as if it were twilight. Among those who are strong, we are like dead men.

Have you rejected-rejected Judah? Has your soul loathed Zion? Why do you strike us with no hope of healing for us? We looked for peace, but no good came, and for a time of healing, but there is only terror!


They didn’t say, ‘Where is YHWH who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, who led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drought and of the shadow of death, through a land that no one passed through, and where no man lived?’


Therefore their way will be to them as slippery places in the darkness. They will be driven on, and fall therein; for I will bring evil on them, even the year of their visitation,” says YHWH.


I looked at the earth, and it was formless and void, and at the heavens, which had no light.


My people have been lost sheep. Their shepherds have caused them to go astray. They have turned them away on the mountains. They have gone from mountain to hill. They have forgotten their resting place.


Therefore YHWH says, “I am going to lay stumbling blocks before this people. The fathers and the sons together will stumble against them. The neighbor and his friend will perish.”


We looked for peace, but no good came, and for a time of healing, but there is only terror!


Our eyes still fail, looking in vain for our help. In our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save.


I have set the threatening sword against all their gates, that their heart may melt, and their stumblings be multiplied. Ah! It is made as lightning. It is pointed for slaughter.


As a shepherd seeks out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered abroad, so I will seek out my sheep. I will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.


“I won’t allow you hear the mocking of the nations any more. You won’t bear the reproach of the peoples any more, and you won’t cause your nation to stumble any more,” says Lord YHWH.’”


A day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness. As the dawn spreading on the mountains, a great and strong people; there has never been the like, neither will there be any more after them, even to the years of many generations.


Hᴇ is here: the one who forms the mountains, creates the wind, declares ʜɪꜱ thoughts to humankind, who makes the morning darkness, and treads on the high places of the earth: YHWH, the God of Armies, is his name.”


“Woe to all who desire the day of YHWH! Why do y’all long for the day of YHWH? It is darkness, and not light.


If y’all will not listen, and y’all will not take it to heart to give glory to my name,” says YHWH Almighty, “then I will send a curse on y’all, and I will curse y’all’s blessings. Indeed, I have cursed them already, because y’all do not take it to heart.


Then Jesus said to them, “Y’all are only going to have the light for a little while longer. Walk while y’all have the light, so that darkness doesn’t overtake y’all. Whoever walks in the darkness doesn’t know where they are going.


Joshua said to Achan, “My son, please give glory to YHWH, the God of Israel, and make confession to him. Tell me now what you have done! Don’t hide it from me!”


and, “a stumbling stone and a rock of offense.” For they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, as they were also appointed to do.


Y’all should make images of your* tumors and your* mice that ravage the land, and y’all must give glory to the God of Israel. Perhaps ʜᴇ will release ʜɪꜱ hand from y’all, y’all’s gods, and y’all’s land.
