Everyone has become brutish and without knowledge. Every goldsmith is shamed by his idol; for his molten image is deceitful, and there is no breath in them.


But they are together brutish and foolish, instructed by idols made of wood.


Many shepherds have destroyed my vineyard. They have trodden my portion under foot. They have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.


The priests didn’t say, ‘Where is YHWH?’ and those who handle the law didn’t know me. The rulers also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal and followed things that do not profit.


YHWH says, “Y’all must record this man as if childless, a man who will not prosper in his days, for none of his descendants will prosper, sitting on David’s throne and ruling in Judah.”


Their camels will be a booty, and the multitude of their livestock a plunder. I will scatter to all winds those who have the corners of their beards cut off; and I will bring their calamity from every side of them,” says YHWH.


The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule by their own authority; and my people love to have it so. What will y’all do at the end of it?


“Israel is a hunted sheep. The lions have driven him away. First, the king of Assyria devoured him, and now at last Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has broken his bones.”


The wise men are disappointed. They are dismayed and trapped. Look, they have rejected the word of YHWH. What kind of wisdom is in them?


As a shepherd seeks out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered abroad, so I will seek out my sheep. I will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.


My anger is kindled against the shepherds, and I will punish the male goats, for YHWH Almighty has visited his flock, the house of Judah, and will make them as his majestic horse in the battle.


“Awake, sword, against my shepherd, and against the man who is close to me,” says YHWH Almighty. “Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered; and I will turn my hand against the little ones.
