But as for the mighty man, he had the earth. The honorable man, he lived in it.


Moreover you should select from all the people able men who fear God, men of truth who hate unjust gain. Appoint them as rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.


Moses said to YHWH, “O Lord, I am not eloquent. I have not been before now, nor since you have spoken to your servant, for I am slow of speech and tongue.”


the hero and the warrior, the judge and the prophet, the diviner and the elder,


I will make boys be their leaders, and children will rule over them.


Therefore my people go into captivity for lack of knowledge. Their honorable men are starving, and their masses are parched with thirst.


The elder and the honorable man is the head, and the prophet who teaches lies is the tail.


So I took the heads of y’all’s tribes, wise and respected men, and made them heads over y’all, leaders of thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens, and officers for y’all’s tribes.


Then he said to Zebah and Zalmunna, “What kind of men did y’all kill at Tabor?” They answered, “They were like you. Each one resembled the children of a king.”


He will appoint them to him for captains of thousands and captains of fifties; and he will assign some to plow his ground and to reap his harvest; and to make his instruments of war and the instruments of his chariots.
