On the ninth day of the fourth month, the famine was severe in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.


Hᴇ called down a famine on the land. Hᴇ destroyed the food supplies.


Therefore the Lord, YHWH Almighty, the Mighty One of Israel, says: “Ah, I will console myself from my adversaries by avenging myself on my enemies.


Y’all must stop trusting in humankind, whose breath is in their nostrils. Why should they be esteemed?


Moreover YHWH said, “Because the daughters of Zion are arrogant, and walk with outstretched necks and flirting eyes, walking seductiveley as they go, jingling ornaments on their ankles;


But Rabshakeh said, “Has my master sent me only to your master and to you to speak these words, and not to the people who sit on the wall, who will eat their own dung and drink their own urine with y’all?”


Therefore my people go into captivity for lack of knowledge. Their honorable men are starving, and their masses are parched with thirst.


Your Lord YHWH, your God who pleads the cause of his people, says, “Look, I have taken out of your hand the cup of staggering, even the bowl of the cup of my wrath. You will not drink it any more.


One will devour on the right hand, and be hungry; and he will eat on the left hand, and they will not be satisfied. Everyone will eat the flesh of his own arm:


Then Zedekiah the king gave order, and Jeremiah was placed in the court of the guard. Every day, they gave him a loaf of bread from the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city was gone. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.


“My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet. They threw him into the cistern, and he is likely to die in that place because of the famine because there is no more bread in the city.”


It was because of YHWH’s anger that all this happened in Jerusalem and Judah, when he threw them out from ʜɪꜱ presence. Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.


In the fourth month, in the ninth day of the month, the famine was so severe in the city, that there was no bread for the people of the land.


We must pay for water to drink. Our wood is sold to us.


“Son of humanity, when a land sins against me by committing a trespass, and I stretch out my hand on it, and break the staff of its bread and send famine on it, and cut off from it man and animal—


When I break y’all’s supply of bread, ten women will bake y’all’s bread in one oven, and they will deliver y’all’s bread by weight, and y’all will eat but not be satisfied.


“I also have given y’all cleanness of teeth in all y’all’s cities, and lack of bread in every town; yet y’all haven’t returned to me,” says YHWH.


Now why do you cry out aloud? Is there no king in you? Has your counselor perished, that pains have taken hold of you as of a woman in travail?
