I will give over the Egyptians into the hand of a cruel lord. A fierce king will rule over them,” says the Lord, YHWH Almighty.


He heard news concerning Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, “He has come out to fight against you.” When he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,


For I am YHWH your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I have given Egypt as your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place.


Look, I and the children whom YHWH has given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from YHWH Almighty who dwells in Mount Zion.


YHWH said to me, “You are to go and buy yourself a linen undergarment, and put it on your waist, but don’t put it in water.”


In their sight, you are to load it on your shoulders and carry it out in the dark. You are to cover your face, so that you don’t see the land, for I have set you for a sign to the house of Israel.”


A sword will come on Egypt, and anguish will be in Ethiopia, when the slain fall in Egypt. They take away her multitude, and her foundations are broken down.


“‘YHWH says: “They also who uphold Egypt will fall. The pride of her power will come down. They will fall by the sword in it from the tower of Seveneh,” says Lord YHWH.


“You also, son of humanity, take a tile, and lay it before yourself, and portray on it a city, even Jerusalem.


Take an iron pan and set it up as an iron wall between you and the city. Then turn your face toward it, so that it will be under sieged, and siege against it. This will be a sign to the house of Israel.


Y’all Cushites also, y’all will be killed by my sword.


Hear now, Joshua the high priest, you and your fellows who sit before you, are men who are a sign that I will bring out my servant, the Branch.


According to the number of the days y’all spied in the land, forty days, for every day, y’all will bear y’all’s iniquities for a year, forty years. Then y’all will know my opposition.’
