Now Laban had gone to shear his sheep; and Rachel stole her father’s household idols.


Now Rachel had taken the household idols, put them in the camel’s saddle, and sat on them. Laban felt around all the tent, but didn’t find them.


The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs. The obedience of the peoples will be to him.


David danced before YHWH with all his might; and David was clothed in a linen ephod.


Moreover, Josiah removed those who had familiar spirits, the wizards, and the teraphim, and the idols, and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might confirm the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of YHWH.


He went out to meet Asa, and said to him, “Y’all listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin! YHWH is with y’all while y’all are with ʜɪᴍ. If y’all seek him, ʜᴇ will be found by y’all, but if y’all abandon him, ʜᴇ will abandon y’all.


These are the garments which they are to make: a breastplate, an ephod, a robe, a fitted tunic, a turban, and a sash. They are to make holy garments for Aaron your brother and his sons, that he may minister to me in the priest’s office.


“They are to make the ephod of gold, blue, purple, scarlet, and fine twined linen, the work of the skillful artisan.


Her gates have sunk into the ground. He has destroyed and broken her bars. Her king and her princes are among the nations where the law is not. Yes, her prophets find no vision from YHWH.


Fire has spread out from its branches. It has devoured its fruit, so that there is in it no strong branch to be a scepter to rule.’ This is a lament, and should be for a lament.”


“‘“What comes into y’all’s mind will never happen when y’all say, ‘We will be like the nations and the tribes of the lands who serve wood and stone.’


For the king of Babylon stood at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination. He shook the arrows back and forth. He consulted the teraphim. He looked in the liver.


I will pour out my indignation on you. I will blow on you with the fire of my wrath. I will deliver you into the hand of brutish men, skillful to destroy.


“Forces from him will profane the sanctuary, even the fortress, and will take away the continual burnt offering. Then they will set up the abomination that makes desolate.


“From the time that the continual burnt offering is taken away and the abomination that makes desolate set up, there will be one thousand two hundred ninety days.


He will make a firm covenant with many for one week. In the middle of the week he will cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease. On the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate; and even to the decreed full end, wrath will be poured out on the desolate.”


Where is your king now, that he may save you in all your cities? And your judges, of whom you said, ‘Give me a king and princes’?


I have given you a king in my anger, and have taken him away in my wrath.


I will also cause all her celebrations to cease: her feasts, her new moons, her Sabbaths, and all her solemn assemblies.


He put the tunic on him, tied the sash on him, clothed him with the robe, put the ephod on him, and he tied the skillfully woven band of the ephod on him and fastened it to him with it.

They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led captive into all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the ethnic groups until the times of the nations are fulfilled.


They cried out, “Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Should I crucify y’all’s King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar!”


For if we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no more sacrifice for sins remains,


The man Micah had a house of gods, and he made an ephod, and teraphim, and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest.

The king said to Doeg, “Turn and attack the priests!” Doeg the Edomite turned, and he attacked the priests, and he killed on that day eighty-five people who wore a linen ephod.


When Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, he came down with an ephod in his hand.


David knew that Saul was devising mischief against him. He said to Abiathar the priest, “Bring the ephod here.”


David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelech, “Please bring the ephod here to me.” Abiathar brought the ephod to David.
