They heard the sound of YHWH God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the human and his woman hid themselves from the presence of YHWH God among the trees of the garden.


He cried against the altar by the word of YHWH, and said, “Altar! Altar! YHWH says: ‘Look, a son will be born to David’s house, Josiah by name. On you he will sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn incense on you, and they will burn human bones on you.’”


This thing became sin to the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off and to destroy it from off the surface of the earth.


He will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he has sinned, and with which he has made Israel to sin.”


Moreover the altar that was at Bethel and the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made, even that altar and the high place he broke down; and he burned the high place and beat it to dust, and burned the Asherah.


Now when all this was finished, all Israel who were present went out to the cities of Judah and broke the pillars in pieces, cut down the Asherah poles, and broke down the high places and the altars out of all Judah and Benjamin, also in Ephraim and Manasseh, until they had destroyed them all. They told the mountains and the rocks, “Y’all fall on us and hide us from the face of the one who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb,


In those days humans will seek death, but they will not find it. They will long to die, but death will flee from them.
