They saw him afar off, and before he came near to them, they conspired against him to kill him.


and they took him, and threw him into the pit. The pit was empty. There was no water in it.


Midianites who were merchants passed by, and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmaelites for twenty pieces of silver. The merchants brought Joseph into Egypt.


His brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, and they hated him and couldn’t speak peaceably to him.


They said to one another, “We are certainly guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the distress of his soul, when he begged us, and we wouldn’t listen. Therefore this distress has come upon us.”


“Joseph is a fruitful vine, a fruitful vine by a spring. His branches run over the wall.


But his bow remained strong. The arms of his hands were made strong, by the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, (from there is the shepherd, the stone of Israel),

I have told y’all these things so that in me y’all may have peace. In the world y’all have oppression, but cheer up! I have conquered the world.”


strengthening the souls of the disciples and encouraging them to continue in the faith, saying, “We must go through many persecutions to enter the Empire of God.”
