16 Judah said, “What will we tell my lord? What will we speak? How will we clear ourselves? God has found out the iniquity of your servants. We are now slaves to my lord, both we and he also in whose hand the cup is found.”

There we were, binding sheaves in the field. Suddenly, my sheaf arose and stood upright, and y’all’s sheaves came around and bowed down to my sheaf.”


He dreamed yet another dream and told it to his brothers, and said, “Hey! I dreamed another dream. Picture the sun and the moon and eleven stars bowing down to me.”


He said, “Far be it from me that I should do so. The man in whose hand the cup was found, he will be my slave. But the rest of y’all, go in peace to y’all’s father.”


For your servant became collateral for the boy to my father, saying, ‘If I don’t bring him to you, then I will bear the blame to my father forever.’


With whomever of your servants it is found, let him die, and we also will be my lord’s slaves.”


She said to Elijah, “What have I to do with you, you man of God? You have come to me to bring my sin to memory, and to kill my son!”


“Now, our God, what can we say after this? For we have forsaken your commandments,


YHWH, the God of Israel, you are righteous; for we are left a remnant that has escaped, as it is today. We are before you in our guiltiness! For no one can stand before you because of this.”


“Indeed, I am of small account. What will I answer you? I put my hand on my mouth.


The one who justifies the wicked and the one who condemns the righteous, both of them are an abomination to YHWH.


A person who is tormented by blood guilt will be a fugitive until death. No one will support them.


Therefore by this the iniquity of Jacob will be forgiven, and this is all the fruit of taking away his sin: that he makes all the stones of the altar as chalk stones that are beaten in pieces, so that the Asherah poles and the incense altars will stand no longer.


“Now, residents of Jerusalem and people of Judah, please, y’all must judge between me and my vineyard.


“Lord, righteousness belongs to you, but to us confusion of face, as it is today; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, who are near and who are far off, through all the countries where you have driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against you.


“But if y’all will not do so, then look, y’all have sinned against YHWH. And y’all must know that y’all’s sin will find y’all out.


For in the way y’all judge, y’all will be judged; and with the measure y’all use, it will be measured to y’all.


There is nothing covered up that won’t be uncover, nor hidden that won’t be made known.


Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?”


If there is a controversy between men, they are to court for judgment. The judges will judge them, and they will exonerate the righteous and condemn the wicked.


But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the devoted things; for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of the devoted things. Therefore YHWH’s anger burned against the children of Israel.


He made his household approach man by man, and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was selected.


Adoni-Bezek said, “Seventy kings, having their thumbs and their big toes cut off, scavenged under my table. As I have done, so God has done to me.” They brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.
