On the third day, when they were sore, two of Jacob’s sons, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, each took his sword, came upon the unsuspecting city, and killed all the males.


They didn’t know that Joseph understood them; for there was an interpreter between them.


May God Almighty give y’all mercy before the man, that he may release y’all’s other brother and Benjamin to y’all. If I am bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.”


He said, “Peace be to y’all. Don’t y’all be afraid. Y’all’s God, and the God of y’all’s father, has given y’all treasure in y’all’s sacks. I received y’all’s money.” Then he brought Simeon out to them.


Then Joseph hurried out because his compassion was kindled over his brother, and he sought a place to weep. He entered into his room and wept there.


Then Joseph couldn’t control himself before all those who stood before him, and he called out, “Y’all make everyone leave my presence!” No one else stood with him, while Joseph made himself known to his brothers.


He wept aloud. The Egyptians heard, and the house of Pharaoh heard.


In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and in his pity he redeemed them. He bore them, and carried them all the days of old.


As he approached Jerusalem, he saw the city and wept over it,


Y’all are to rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep,


When one member suffers, all the members suffer with it. When one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.


For we don’t have a high priest who can’t empathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way like we are, yet was without sin.
