Joseph’s ten brothers went down to buy grain from Egypt.


When they had eaten up the grain which they had brought out of Egypt, their father said to them, “Y’all go again and buy us a little more food.”


If you will send our brother with us, we’ll go down and buy you food;


Judah said to Israel, his father, “Send the boy with me, and we’ll get up and go, so that we may live, and not die, we as well as you and also our little ones.


Now y’all hurry and go up to my father, and y’all tell him, ‘This is what your son Joseph says, “God has made me lord of all Egypt. Come down to me and don’t delay.


I will not die, but live, and declare YHWH’s works.


But look, the eye of YHWH is on those who fear ʜɪᴍ, on those who hope in ʜɪꜱ lovingkindness,


to deliver their soul from death, to keep them alive in famine.


In those days Hezekiah became sick and was near death. Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, came to him, and said to him, “YHWH says, ‘Set your house in order, for you will die, and not live.’”


But he answered, “It is written, ‘A human must not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’”


When Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent our ancestors there the first time.
